Just 3 miles from the Chapman University Sandi Simon Center for Dance, the recently-constructed Ayres Hotel is located walking distance from Starbucks, Quizno's and The Outlets of Orange with over 120 shops, restaurants and entertainment.

DAILY SHUTTLE SERVICE
Ayres Hotel Orange provides daily transportation to and from the Chapman University Partridge Dance Center. Please refer to Shuttle Schedule below for pick-up and drop-off times.
CHAPERONE
A BD Chaperone will be available on site at the Ayres Hotel Orange during non-intensive hours to ensure supervision. The chaperone is present to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the participants. In addition, the chaperone will closely supervise daily activities, transportation to/from the hotel, and incidental needs of the students. The chaperone will be supplied with a list of emergency contact information and any relevant medical information. Strict adherence to the Housing Guidelines by participants should be emphasized by parents prior to arrival.

FOOD & SNACKS
The Ayres Hotel provides a complimentary daily hot and cold continental breakfast daily. Students are responsible for providing all additional meals and snacks.
The room is equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave. We recommend packing some food items or stopping by a local grocery store before checking in. For longer stays, our housing chaperones can assist with trips to a local market to restock items.
The following is a list of suggestions for in-room dining options:

Minors with a signed Off-Campus Permission Form will be allowed to walk to a local eatery in groups of two or more.
Special Note: Breakfast is included in the cost of housing. Students should have cash or pre-loaded check card for other meals, personal expenses and outings. Backhausdance does not manage student's funds while they are at the Summer Intensive.
Note on Valuables: Backhausdance and the Ayres Hotel Orange will not assume responsibility for any lost or stolen valuables. It is recommended that no valuable items such as jewelry are brought to the Summer Intensive.
ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN
ARRIVAL DAY
A Backhausdance representative will be available on site at the Ayres Hotel Orange for check-in each Sunday beginning at 3:00pm. Upon arrival, please call the BD Housing Line (714-712-0841) and a representative will meet you in the lobby. If you plan on arriving after 8:00pm, please contact us to arrange a late check-in.
ADDITIONAL FORMS
The housing agreement including rules and regulations was signed upon initial reservation. Please review these rules and regulations to ensure a positive experience for you and your roommates.
Additional forms may be necessary for participants under the age of 18. If applicable, please print and return the following forms (via email to Kim@backhausdance.org or bring to check-in when you arrive).
OFF-CAMPUS RELEASE FORM
This form is optional. Signing this form gives a minor (under age 18) permission to leave the Ayres Hotel Orange without the direct supervision of a Backhausdance Chaperone. Backhausdance will require students to follow Off-Campus sign‐out and sign‐in procedures, but will not monitor a student’s whereabouts after they leave the hotel. Without a signed form, minors will be required to remain at the Ayres Hotel Orange during all non-intensive hours unless accompanied by the Chaperone.
AUTHORIZED ADULTS FORM
This form is optional. While in Southern California your student may have friends or family who would like to take him/her out for a short outing or for the weekend. Students under age 18 must have signed permission from a parent/guardian to be able to leave with an authorized adult. Students and the authorized adult (must be at least 18 years of age) must follow sign‐out procedure when leaving the Ayres Hotel Orange and/or the Chapman University Sandi Simon Center for Dance.
TRANSPORTATION
RELEASE FORM
This form is required in order for Participants to travel to/from organized intensive Evening Activities held outside the range of the complimentary shuttle service provided by the Ayres Hotel Orange.
MOVE-IN & MOVE-OUT DATES
Move-in and move-out dates generally correspond with number of weeks and which weeks you are participating. Please review your personal housing reservation confirmation to confirm your move-in and move-out dates as some participants have requested adjusted dates.

Individual daily rates are not available. There are no reduced rates for late arrival or early departure.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
Meet in lobby 10 minutes before scheduled departure time. Full schedule will be available closer to event.
ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION
Housing students may use additional transportation options at their own risk. Only students ages 18 and up and minors with an authorized Off-Campus Release Form will be allowed to leave campus without a chaperone.
ANAHEIM RESORT TRANSPORATION
RIDEART.ORG
ART connects you to theme parks, hotels, restaurants, shopping, dining and other destinations within the Anaheim Resort area, including the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and Orange.
To find the ART line to ride, use the map, ask an Ayres Hotel Orange representative (you can request a paper guide), or visit the ART Information Center at ARTIC. For travel throughout the region, ART connects with other transportation providers.
ART provides service 7/day week. Service typically begins at 7 AM and continues through midnight, or one hour before the Disneyland Resort opens, continuing through one hour after close. Daily schedules are available on the individual routes pages in the RIDEART.ORG top menu dropdown “Routes and Schedules."
Plan ART trips on-the-go with your mobile phone. Use RIDEART.ORG, use a mobile app such as Google Maps or Apple Maps (see RIDEART'S App Center for other mobile app options).
ART passes are available for purchase online, by mobile phone (iOS, Google Play), at participating hotels and more.
DESTINATIONS: Disneyland Resort, Downtown Disney, Knott's Berry Farm, Medieval Times, Pirate's Dinner Adventure, Anaheim Packing District, Anaheim GardenWalk, Angel Stadium, Honda Center, Bowers Museum, MainPlace Santa Ana Mall, South Coast Plaza, San Clemente Pier (via ART and Metrolink).

Uber is an easy option to get around. One tap and a car comes directly to you. Your driver knows exactly where to go. And payment is completely cashless. Tap a button, get a ride. Choose your ride and set your location. You’ll see your driver’s picture and vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map. No cash, no tip, no hassle. When you arrive at your destination, just hop out—Uber automatically charges the credit card on file. And there’s no need to tip. Must be 18 or older.

RULES & REGULATIONS
Note to all Students: All rules and policies will be strictly enforced. The Backhausdance Chaperone has absolute authority to enforce these guidelines. Disciplinary problems will be dealt with on an individual basis and may result in expulsion (with no refund) from the program.
OFF-CAMPUS TRIPS
For participants under the age of 18 an Off-Campus Release Form must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Backhausdance in order for the student to leave the Ayres Hotel Orange without a chaperone. Participants who do not have signed permission to leave the hotel will not be allowed to do so except in the case of chaperoned travel and outings. Minors should notify the Chaperone of where they are going and when they expect to return. Minors with parent/guardian permission to leave campus without a Chaperone may only do so in groups of two or more.
AUTHORIZED ADULTS
Family/friends may be authorized to check a minor out for the evening and/or on the weekends. The adult taking the minor student must be authorized by a parent/guardian on the Authorized Adults Form ahead of time. The on-campus chaperone should be contacted prior to pick-up to arrange sign out.
HOUSING TUITION
As stated in the Housing Agreement at time of reservation, no refunds will be issued for any reason after May 31, 2024.
OVERNIGHT GUESTS
Participants may not have overnight guests.
USE
Please be advised the hotel does not allow parties or loud social gatherings in the guest rooms or throughout the hotel, including the patio area. Any participant violating this policy will be removed from the housing facility.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Participants are responsible for the general condition of the room assigned, including damages, defacement and general order. Please be respectful of the shared space by keeping personal items organized and in your designated space.
COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS
Participants are subject to all federal, state and local laws. No unlawful conduct shall be carried on or permitted in the rooms or facilities. Residents must obey California's drinking laws. In California individuals must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol and alcohol may not be served to individuals under 21.
COMMUNICATION
It is recommended that your student have their own cell phone for their use while away from home. Students may bring laptops from home but Backhausdance and the Ayres Hotel Orange cannot be responsible for loss or damage.
CURFEW
Please note the curfew times for participants under 18. Failure to observe this curfew will result in removal from the housing venue.

SEXUAL ABUSE & MISCONDUCT PREVENTION POLICY
Backhausdance prohibits and does not tolerate sexual abuse or misconduct during any organization-related activity. Immediately report suspected sexual abuse or misconduct to Backhausdance Artistic Director Jennifer Backhaus or Summer Intensive Coordinator Kimberly Olmos. Backhausdance will take all allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct seriously and will promptly, thoroughly and equitably investigate whether misconduct has taken place. Backhausdance prohibits making false or malicious sexual misconduct allegations, as well as deliberately providing false information during an investigation. Backhausdance is committed to following the state and federal legal requirements for reporting allegations or incidents of sexual abuse or misconduct to appropriate law enforcement and child or adult protective services organizations.
