Once again, we will be housed at Chapman University's state-of-the-art facilities. SUMMER INTENSIVE 2013
Chapman University Partridge Dance Center
July 22 - August 3, 2013
Backhausdance offers an annual summer intensive housed at Chapman University in Orange, California. The intensive is a one or two-week program designed for pre-professional and collegiate level dancers who want to challenge themselves technically and grow as artists.
$700/2 weeks, $400/1 week, plus a $50 registration fee*
*Credited toward balance if tuition is paid in full by May 1st

Modern Technique, Contemporary Ballet Technique, Dance Conditioning, Improvisation, Contemporary Jazz, Partnering, Somatics, Composition, Pilates, Floor Barre and Backhausdance Repertory.
2013 INTENSIVE FACULTY:
Artistic Director Jennifer Backhaus and Backhausdance company members. Once again, we will be welcoming a wide range of prestigious guest faculty as well. Previous guest faculty have included Maria Gillespie (Oni Dance, UCLA, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), John Malashock (Malashock Dance), Stephanie Nugent (CalArts, Nugent Dance), Liz Maxwell (Chapman University, Laura Dean and Dancers), Cyrus Parker-Jeannette (CSU Long Beach), Dale Merrill (Chapman University, Spectrum Dance Theater), Kimberly Olmos (Ballet Pacifica), Marie De La Palme (Motion/Tribe), Patrick Damon Rago (Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company), Heather Gillette (Loretta Livingston and Dancers), Omar Olivas (Diavolo Dance Theater) and more!

9:30 - 10:30am Elective: Pilates, Yoga, Floor Barre, Somatics
10:30 - Noon Technique Class #1 (Modern Technique, Contemporary Ballet, Contemporary Jazz)
Noon - 1:00pm Lunch, Optional Discussions
1:00pm - 2:30pm Technique Class #2 (Modern Technique, Contemporary Ballet, Contemporary Jazz)
2:30pm - 3:30pm Partnering, Composition
3:30pm - 5:00pm Backhausdance: Deconstructed Repertory Rehearsal
DECONSTRUCTED PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY:
Students participating in the full two week intensive program will rehearse daily and perform in a fully-produced concert Backhausdance: Deconstructed. Please note that those choosing to take the one-week program will not be able to perform in the Deconstructed concert. One week participants will attend classes daily from 9:30am to 3:30pm and will have the option to understudy roles during the daily 3:30pm - 5:00pm Deconstructed rehearsal session.

The 9th annual summer intensive culminates with the Backhausdance: Deconstructed concert. Students participating in the full two- week intensive program will rehearse daily and perform one of three classic, award-winning Backhausdance repertory pieces. The professional company will discuss the creation of and perform its newest work The Elasticity of the Almost, premiering at the Carpenter Center in February 2013.
Please note that those choosing to take the one-week program will not be able to perform in the Deconstructed concert. One week participants will attend classes daily from 9:30am to 3:30pm and will have the option to understudy roles during the daily 3:30pm - 5:00pm Deconstructed rehearsal session.
