Born in the United States, Megan Doheny is a movement artist, teacher, and award-winning choreographer currently based in California. She danced for eight seasons with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC) in Israel, where she participated in the creation of original works and performances of artistic director Rami Be’er’s repertoire, touring throughout Israel and internationally to more than 20 countries. In 2021, Megan was awarded the Yair Shapira Prize in recognition of her contribution to contemporary dance in Israel. 

As a choreographer, Megan frequently collaborates with her partner, Ilya Nikurov. Together, they established their collaborative dance project, Outrun The Bear, in 2021. Since then, Megan and Ilya have been invited to perform and screen their works in Israel, the Netherlands, Portugal, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the United States, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and South Korea. Megan was an Artist in Residence at LA Dance Project as a part of Launch:LA 2023 and served as a guest artist at the Centre Chorégraphique James Carlès in Toulouse, France.

Outrun The Bear’s work has been commissioned by several national and international dance companies, including the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (South Korea), the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (Israel), Open Space Dance Company (Portland, Oregon) and the Crush on Trash Foundation (Poland). Through her work as a performer, teacher, and creator, Megan continues to cultivate a dynamic and internationally recognized voice in contemporary dance.
