HEATHER GILLETTE

With over 25 years of dedicated teaching at Santa Ana College, Heather Gillette is a seasoned dance educator, choreographer, and somatic practitioner committed to fostering expressive, embodied learning environments.

In addition to her long-standing role at SAC, her teaching career spans a wide range of respected institutions, including Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and California State University, Long Beach, where she taught modern dance. She has also specialized in Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals, teaching at Chapman University, the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

She is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst through Integrated Movement Studies in Berkeley, California, and continues to expand her interdisciplinary approach to movement and healing. Her recent certifications include Breakwork Practitioner, Trauma-Informed Breathwork Facilitator (2025), and Somatic Therapy Practitioner (2026), reflecting her commitment to integrating dance with somatic and therapeutic practices.

Her work bridges performance, pedagogy, and somatic inquiry, empowering students to explore movement as a tool for communication, resilience, and transformation.
