Assemblies are 45-60 minute performances by Backhausdance company members with audience participation and question-and-answer section. Students experience an introduction to the art of contemporary dance and learn how a piece is created, learn basic dance and movement vocabulary, meet professional dancers, and have a fun and inspiring time that is enjoyable and connects to key curricular concepts. Students often are motivated to pursue dance after an assembly because this is often a ‘first-time’ experience, and they can see that anyone can dance!
