In spring of 2005, Backhausdance performed in their first full company concert at Mount San Antonio College which sold out to audiences every night. Backhausdance was awarded Best Short Form Choreography, Best Lighting Design, Best Costume Design and was nominated for Best Male Performance for company member William Lu at the 2005 Los Angeles Dance Resource Center’s Lester Horton Awards for Sitting on January. Backhausdance also performed in Gallimaufry’s Dance Day celebration sponsored by the City of Laguna Beach with Complexions and San Francisco Ballet in May 2005.

2006 marks a milestone for Backhausdance with the opening of Backhaus Contemporary Dance Center (BCDC). BCDC houses Backhausdance and serves as Orange County’s primary source for contemporary dance training.

Backhausdance has a diverse repertory that is entertaining as well as artistic. Repertory works include powerful, athletic, dances, emotionally charged, dramatic pieces, and whimsical, humorous glimpses at the human experience. All works are highly produced with beautiful lighting and costume design. Backhausdance also offers concert pieces with a focus on younger audiences that include master class workshop components.
